Riding Lessons
At SE Equestrian, we focus on teaching riding lessons in a fun and safe environment. We have experienced instructors who are happy to accomodate a new student, child or adult, whether they are riding for the first time or are an experienced rider wanting to compete and improve their skills.
Sessions are approximately 60 minutes in length and tailored to the level of the rider.
In addition to our mounted lessons, we also provide extra unmounted horsemanship lessons including safety around horses, horse care, equine first aid, lunging and more. At SE Equestrian we teach students the value of good horse care and like when they take an interest in learning everything they can about how to care for and manage their horse.
Unmounted Lessons: $40 per person
Freelance coaching on your own property is also available.
After learning basic riding skills in private lessons, our students are moved into a group of 2 or 3 other riders around the same age and skill level.
Instruction is in engligh riding skills - hunters, jumpers and dressage - on our safe and friendly lesson horses or on your own or leased horse.
Lessons are held in our indoor arena on winter and rainy days, and in our large outdoor riding rings during the summer.
Students in our programs have the opportunity to compete in local schooling, provincial and national level shows and participate in any of our Christmas, March Break, Summer and Day Camps. Please see our Camps Page for more information on that.
Lessons are one hour long and are available on weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Equipment
- Boots with a heel
- Long Pants
- Each rider needs an ASTM approved helmet. We can provide a helmet to borrow for beginner students until a helmet is purchased, for best fit and function, however, we recommend each rider buy their own helmet once they have decided to continue with riding long term.
Students will not be allowed on a horse without wearing suitable attire.

Occasionally we have a client that loves one of our lesson horses so much they decide to buy them. Other times we offer lesson horses for sale who would prefer to have their "own" person instead of being in the program with multiple students.
Graduates of our lesson program
SE Equestrian has limited availability for lessons in order to accommodate each of our riders and ensure the proper care of our horses. Many of our lesson slots are booked days in advance. For this reason, we request that you cancel at least 24-hours before your scheduled lesson if you are unable to attend via email or text. This will allow us to offer your spot to another student.
If you provide at least 24-hours notice of your cancellation, we will arrange a make-up lesson within the month. However, lessons cancelled with less than 24-hours notice are not able to be made up. Special consideration will be given for extenuating circumstances.
